My first bolt of fabric has arrived! It’s so exciting. I am deciding which patterns to use and then I have to cut them out. Sounds simple? Not really.
Anyone who has watched the Great British Sewing Bee will know that pattern matching can make or break a garment. You also need to cut all the pieces in line with the selvage so the fabric is straight and in line with the grain.
This pattern really needs a row of rainbows running down the middle or it would look funny. So that’s a lot of things to take into consideration when placing and cutting out!
I use pattern weights and a rotary cutter when cutting jersey as it moves and stretches otherwise.
I’m trying to make use of all the fabric too!
